Balenciaga Banks is not your typical rap/hip-hop scenester. Sure, he raps about the usual stuff — cars with tinted windows, women and money — but there’s more to Mr. Banks than his music would otherwise indicate.

Whether he’s designing clothing in his signature street-cum-country-club style or reminding the listener of early De La Soul, The King of Club is his 7th mix tape, and it aims to fuse the gap between the underground rap scene and mainstream music. This is perhaps Mr. Banks’ greatest musical accomplishment to date.

Sure, there’s the usual club fare, but there’s also a grungy underground element to this music — from the production to the lyrics — that sets The King of Club apart from its contemporary offerings.

First, there’s the inherent emotion throughout the work of this Cincinnati, Ohio native’s rhymes, an emotion that draws the listener in, makes him believe every word. Second, the production is at once elegant and rough, real, truthful, helping Mr. Banks connect with the listener in new and interesting ways.

American musician Kajmir Royale brings his unique “Hip Pop” style to the masses with his sophomore effort, Heir To The Throne. After working with LA-based mixtape gurus DJ Ill Will and DJ Rockstar, the longtime beat creator has had major placements with luminaries like Bow Wow, De La Soul and DMX. Utilizing elements from old Motown mixed with modern hip hop, Heir To The Throne is an honest and unique look at an up-and-comer in the scene.

From his humble beginnings as a product of a broken home in Colorado Springs, Kajmir Royale has managed to rise up to explore new heights in expanding Denver hip hop. From honest, inspirational tracks like the leadoff freestyle You Don’t Know My Name, to more traditional hip hop club anthems such as the sexually-charged Room Full Of Bad Bitches, Royale has something on Heir for everyone.

Electro Rhythmic-Pop Duo “SPEAKERS” Release Debut EP New Frequency Today, May 8.

Group Performs For Second Time on Last Call with Carson Daly.

Los Angeles based duo speakers fuse elements of dance, R&B, hip-hop and electronic pop, to craft their own unique sound on their debut EP New Frequency which as released today, May 8. The entire EP is now streaming on www.Facebook.com/speakersmusic or the EP is for sale on iTunes: http://bit.ly/K8JvM2

On the four-track EP (released by Virgin Records in conjunction with independent label Newco, where the duo were first discovered by Troy Carter and Matt Michelsen), singer/rapper/lyricist Keon B and musician/producer Blair Taylor fuse genres and deliver hyper-experimental party jams like “Bass” and the funked-up instant classic “And Her Too.” New Frequency also features guest appearances from Travie McCoy of Gym Class Heroes (on “Runnin’ It,” an old-school-spirited anthem backed by a futuristic groove) and songstress NiRé All’Dai (on “Right Right,” a super-slick, club-ready banger).

Sspeakers is the genre-warping product of many years of musical adventuring on the part of Keon and Blair (both 21-years-old).

The duo will perform the track “Right Right” tonight on NBC’s Last Call with Carson Daly with label mate NiRe AllDai.
